Success For The Stockholm Chamber: Exit Tax Is Stopped

The Minister of Finance, Magdalena Andersson, confirms in Dagens Industri that they will no longer pursue the proposal of an exit tax. For the Stockholm Chamber, who has campaigned against the tax, the news is a major success.

Andreas Hatzigeorgiou, Chief economist at the Stockholm Chamber, is pleased that the government chooses to stop the tax proposal in its entirety.

- It is obviously very welcomed. The Stockholm Chamber has pushed a campaign against the proposal on an exit tax. It would have hurt the competitiveness of Sweden, and made it more difficult to win the battle for global talents, Andreas Hatzigeorgiou, Chief economist at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

The Stockholm Chamber has pushed the campaign www.stoppaexitskatten.nu, and encouraged entrepreneurs to send their opinions to the government in a statement of opinion.

- We have made it clear that the proposal of an exit tax would have caused great damage, especially when it comes to competence and the possibility for a generation-shift within the company. It is on solid ground that most statements of opinions sent in to the government, have been negative to the proposal. What we now need is a comprehensive tax reform that improves the conditions for employment and businesses, says Andreas Hatzigeorgiou.
