Business climate

Business climate

The capital region has a strong economy. Manufacturing, commerce and a large and growing service sector are all integral parts of the region’s economy. Many new and innovative businesses want to expand in Stockholm. From the Chamber's perspective, the business climate is good, but it could be better.

It should be easy to start, operate and develop businesses in the capital region. Businesses need long-term and stable conditions. It's about access to capital and expertise, regulatory, tax and labor law.

Key issues for the Chamber are the reduction of fiscal pressure, less regulation and improved public procurement rules. It should be easy and less risky to hire. We also want to curb unhealthy public competition. A favorable business environment is a prerequisite for the metropolitan area and for Sweden if we are to remain globally competitive.

The Chamber promotes:

  • that regulatory, fiscal and other conditions that help build a strong headquarter economy are nurtured and developed
  • a modernization of the Swedish labor law
  • Better Regulation-agenda with clear and measurable goals, subject to the Prime Ministry
  • a long term phase-out of the state income tax and an abolishment of the highest marginal tax rate.
